World-renowned virtuoso contemporary didjeridu pioneer Stephen Kent unleashes his 7th solo project, The Painted Road - a complete set of didjeridu solos accompanying himself on percussion. Key man in the groups Trance Mission, Lights in a Fat City, Baraka Moon and many other projects, including the 2014 release Sculthorpe - The Complete Works for Didjeridu and String Quartet, Kent has carved a unique trail in contemporary music exploring and demonstrating the versatility of this little understood instrument, traditional to Australian Aborigines, and enjoying a new voice in the global music scene since Kent himself appeared in the mid 1980’s.

The Painted Road ranges from a new version of Jungnawangra, a driving kangaroo-hopping song featuring a menagerie of animal and bird cries, through the sublime tribal grooves of the title track to more meditative explorations in Universe Vibration and Heartening.
